Out of 145 countries, the Philippines ranks first in terms of gender equality in the Asia-Pacific Region. In 2015, the country has seen a promising progression by moving up to seventh place in the Global Gender Gap Index. According to the World Economic Forum, the country’s recent advancement in women’s rights is attributed to the increase in female economic engagement and opportunity.
Gender equality is well advanced in the Philippines because of its favorable policy environment. The country does well when it comes to gender equality metrics. But, despite its advancement in policies, its implementation is slow and uneven.
As OceanClick celebrates Women’s Month, we join the community in celebrating International Women’s Day 2022 with the theme Breaking the Bias. Last March 8, 2022, we had a LIVE Episode shared to our social media platforms, FB and IG, to discuss Women’s Rights. Together with our guest speaker Ms. Alisandra E. Abadia we had a lively discussion regarding Women’s Leadership and Politics.
Despite significant advances for women’s rights and equality in the country, much work has to be done to build a society free of bias and discrimination where individuality is accepted and appreciated. We still need continuous education to empower women to rise to the challenge and break the bias in our community, workplace, schools, and other places.

We hope to see a future where more women have progressed to become great nation builders and leaders. We hope to see a world that is free of bias, discrimination, and stereotypes.
